Marathon for Maeve fundraiser auction

Fundraiser for Maeve.

Beautiful little maeve is just 3 years old and suffers terribly from Epilepsy. Every day she suffers from seizures which prevent her from learning and developing.
Maeve attends CPEC (Cerebral Palsy Education Centre) here Maeve receives intensive therapy where she has been learning to sit, swing her legs and learn how to feed herself and interacting.

CPEC is acknowledged as a world leader in providing specialist education programs for children with cerebral palsy. The CPEC professional staff who work at the Centre in Glen Waverley are renowned internationally as the best in their field.

It costs around $19,000 per child per year to receive eight hours of service per week for 40 weeks. CPEC receives nearly $7,200 per child for the year from the State Government. The $12,000 shortfall is offset by the families who pay fees, do fundraising and seek donations. Their biggest fundraiser happens once a year, the Melbourne Marathon.

All monies raised from this Auction will go to her everyday hero page to help Maeve attend this very special centre. The auction will begin at 12pm Friday 9th September and run until Sunday 18th September at 9pm.

Lemon Meringue Pie Recipe

Wow its been a while since I last posted on here, been so busy... our second child Isabella is 10 months old and our son is almost 3! time flies. I wanted to share with you my beautiful nanna's lemon meringue pie recipe as I get asked about it all the time. It comes from an old magazine where the back page was all about how women in the 50s should dress and behave and what to get ready before your hubby comes home from work :) so cute! luckily I have a wonderful husband who cooks and cleans for me and takes care of the kids while I sew away to create wonderful Baby Chilli nappies. Try it for yourself, trust me you will love it!

Base:
180g of plain crushed biscuits - I add one packet around 250g (gota love a great base) with 90g of melted butter - make it around 120-150ml if adding a whole packet
press firmly into a 23cm pie dish and chill

Filling:
1 can condensed milk,
1/2 cup lemon juice (I add 3/4 cup to make it extra tangy)
3 lightly beaten egg yolks (save the whites) (I add 5 eggs as I add more lemon juice)

mix together well and then pour over the chilled base

Meringue top:
beat the egg whites until they are stiff gradually adding 1/2 cup castor sugar (add 3/4 cup if using 5 egg whites)

spoon or pipe on top of the lemon filling. I spoon it on and then use a fork to make the spikes.

bake in a moderate oven for 15 minutes. If I have time I cook at 150 degrees fan forced for over 30 minutes to allow the meringue to brown nicely. how devine does that smell!! hmm might make it now :) You can serve it hot or cold but let it sit for about 10 minutes first after taking out of the oven as it will be runny otherwise. Enjoy.

I again went out today and bought some more gorgeous fabric, the choice is becomming to big I think ;)

Chilli - I am soo excited that I finally found a Chilli pattern, It was much more than I normally would spend but I had to have it! Its black and daring and will spice up any behind! its only limited though as I could only get just shy of 2m's

blue for you - once again only for a short time as it was the end of a roll - its so beautiful and will make a gorgeous nappy

sea of purple - a good quality quilters cotton lavender with a small white dot, pretty in everyway

Hand print - how cute is that!

black butterfly - I have been eyeing this one off for a while and today I gave in. I think it will look sensational with a number of different colour inners.

Sorbet wave - I have in the past stayed clear of lines but I think this material was worth branching out.

Hello everyone,

I just thought I would let you know that after my recent shopping adventure I have purchased some new material, there is:
Paisley, a beautiful pink floral design for both babies and toddlers,
Daisy, a bright yellow floral design, simply beautiful.
Camo skull, not just for the boys!

bright green field - vibrant and fun

Nappy construction

Recent feedback and continual development have lead to a new design for Baby Chilli nappies. They now have a 3 layer microfibre insert sewn in as well as an insert of bamboo sewn at the pocket opening. This gives you twice as many layers but still with the fast drying pocket qualities. Plus you can boost it up for extra absorbency if required.

New Velcro

I now have a colour choice of velcro, white, black, red or royal blue.
Currently the white velcro tabs are 25mm, all other colours are 38mm. The white will eventually become 38mm too.
When making your nappy I generally choose the colour that best suits your nappy however if you have a preference please let me know.

Now more absorbent

Thank you to everyone who has been testing the nappies. Feedback has been sensational. As I only have baby Alex to test on, it has been good to hear others feedback. Although they work well for me some have expressed the idea of a bigger insert. Therefore from now on the insert will be 6 layers thick, 3 layer sewn in microfibre and a 3 layer bamboo and microfibre booster attached. Unfortunately this will add a small increase onto the price of the tester nappies, however this will save you money as you may not need a booster.

Remember the nappies are made for regular wetters so if your baby / toddler is a heavy wetter you will need to purchase a booster.

Please also remember that the current prices are 'tester' prices. They will rise slightly once the design is finalised and the labels are ready.

New logo on its way

Thanks to Jump cactus design, Baby Chilli's new logo is on its way. Once completed I will be able to get some nappy labels and literature printed.
Its an exciting time in my life and I hope that it all works out for myself and my family.
